The new anti-cancer superfruit? L’Watermelon
There’s a new superfruit on the tables in August. And we have it on our tables every summer season, but that after learning the content, we will try to get it in the colder seasons as well. It is the watermelon, considered by many to be the quintessential summer fruit.
Fresh, thirst-quenching and above all composed mostly of water, watermelon is indeed one of the best fruits to consume when the mugginess is unbearable.
Watermelon is made up of 90 percent water, its caloric intake is very low: thanks to its powerful antioxidant properties, it is considered an elixir of long life, although many people are satisfied with its unmistakable flavor, sweet and juicy at the same time, capable of refreshing the whole body in just a few bites. But the beneficial properties of watermelon certainly don’t end there. Watermelon, thanks to lycopene, is anticancer, as well as detoxifying and diuretic, making it excellent for cleaning up kidneys and liver.
Perfect for swollen legs, hypertension and water retention, watermelon, finally thanks to citrulline, can keep arteries elastic, thus preventing cardiovascular disease.
For Giovanni D’Agata, president of “Sportello dei Diritti,” an association that also deals with health protection, watermelon offers us an opportunity for an important natural solution that can prevent the proliferation of cancer cells even if a healthy diet and regular life are the best conditions to significantly reduce them.
